(양평=브레이크뉴스 경기동북부)하인규 기자=국회 농림축산식품해양수산위원회 소속 김선교 국회의원(국민의힘, 경기 여주시·양평군)은 지난 27일(수) 국회에서「제17회 몽양국제학술심포지엄 ‘동북아 정세와 몽양 여운형의 정치·외교 활동’」을 국회의원 윤호중과 (사)몽양여운형선생기념사업회와 공동주최했다. 몽양기념관(관장 유영표)은 주관, 국가보훈부와 양평군이 후원을 맡았다.

몽양 여운형 선생의 정치적 사상과 외교적 활동을 통해 동북아시아 정세를 재조명한 이번 학술심포지엄에서는 당시 선생이 보여준 정치·외교적 통찰력을 살펴보고 이를 통해 급변하는 한반도 주변 정세의 위기를 함께 인식하며 대한민국이 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하고자 개최됐다.

심포지엄을 주최한 김선교 의원은 “흑백논리 이념이 극명했던 당시의 시대적 상황에도 불구하고, 몽양 여운형 선생은 대한민국의 독립과 좌우 진영의 화합, 민족의 통일을 위해서 일생을 바치셨던 분으로 현시점의 대한민국 정치 상황에 던지는 시사점이 매우 크다”고 언급했다.
