이에 시는 LH와 관련 업무협약을 체결해 금곡천 산책로 단절구간 연결 사업비 전액(약 19억원)을 LH에서 지원받아 시가 직접 사업을 추진하기로 했다.

올해까지 각종 인허가와 보상 절차를 거친 후, 내년 상반기 중 착공해 빠르면 9월경 준공될 예정이다.

주광덕 남양주시장은 “산책로가 연결되면 진접택지지구에서 왕숙천 접근이 쉬워지고, 경관광장과 자전거 도로 등의 이용 편의는 물론 장현리에서 진접역까지의 도보 접근성도 크게 개선될 것”이라며 “진접읍민들의 숙원사업인 만큼 신속하게 사업이 완료될 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
