의정부시는 평생교육에 대한 패러다임을 전환해 시민이 직접 배우고 즐기며 함께 만들어 가는 도시를 조성하고자 올해 3월 ‘의정부시민대학’을 출범했다. 책상에서만 진행되는 기존 교육에서 벗어나 삶의 현장에서 직접 실행하며 배우는 방식으로 운영하는 전국 최초의 평생학습 모델이다.

 

시민들의 목소리를 정책에 반영할 수 있도록 교양·여가 위주로 운영됐던 기존 시민자치대학을 도시를 바꾸는 정책을 고민하고 제안하며 실행하는 의정부형 시민대학으로 탈바꿈시켰다.

 

올해 상반기(4~7월)에는 걷고 싶은 백석천학과, 온 마을 아이지킴이학과, 의정부 페스타 청년기획학과, 의정부 60년 이야기학과, 의정부시민대학 플랫폼 조성학과 총 5개 시범학과를 운영했다.

시는 이 같은 시민대학 수료생들의 결과물을 바탕으로 8월 17일 시민 정책제안 연구활동을 공유하는 ‘제1회 의정부시민대학 동네포럼’을 개최했다.

 

동네포럼은 시민대학의 1학기 학과운영을 통해 도출된 정책을 공유해 실현 가능성을 높이고 동시에 시민주도형 포럼문화를 구축하고자 마련됐다.

 

‘시민정책 Talk Cafe’라는 형식으로 ▲‘쉼이 여유로운 생태하천 백석천’ ▲아동 돌봄을 위한 ‘모두의 놀이터’ ▲의정부시 대표 축제 기획안 ‘의정부 K-디저트 축제’ 3가지의 참신한 시민제안 정책을 발표했다.
