(Jungnang=Break News Northeast Gyeonggi)=Jungnang-gu (Gyeonggi Ryu, head of the district) operates the ‘Youth Stepping Stone Project’ to support youth in difficult circumstances.

The Youth Stepping Stone Project is a project to help teenagers grow healthy by linking youths in social and economic difficulties with social groups or individuals wishing to support them.

With donations from private organizations, it supports living expenses, examination and treatment expenses, pharmaceutical expenses, study-related expenses, technology acquisition, and medical consultation for low-income crisis youth. The target audience is low-income crisis youth aged 9 to 18 years of age and whose income is less than 100% of the median income.

Youth themselves, their guardians, social workers, youth guides, and school staff can apply throughout the year at the Jungnang-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, and the final selection is made after deliberation by the CYS-Net Steering Committee. If you are selected as a candidate, you can receive support in cash or related services.

The district has already supported youth in crisis with a budget of 17 million won for the youth special support project, but it has been excluded due to the limited budget and standards, so it has decided to promote this project to discover and help more youths who are in the blind spot of welfare.

On the 16th, business agreements were signed with three institutions: Jungnang-gu Pharmaceutical Association (CEO Kim Wi-hak), 88 Hospital (CEO Lee Kyung-seok), and Neulchan Hospital (CEO Seo Eun-ho). Starting with the signing ceremony, the scale and period of support will be decided, and full-scale support will begin.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Through this project, we will further strengthen the youth safety net and discover and protect youth who are in the blind spot of welfare. We look forward to the participation of many people who will be there,” he said.
