새마을문고 중랑구지부(회장 유병도)가 주관하고 구가 후원하는 ‘중랑구 독서경진대회’는 민선7기 핵심사업 ‘책 읽는 중랑’ 프로젝트의 일환으로, 지난해에도 약 98개의 작품이 접수될 정도로 주민들이 관심이 높다.

 

모집부문은 ‘독후감’과 ‘편지글’로 각 초등 저학년부, 초등 고학년부, 중등부, 고등부, 대학·일반부 5개로 나눠 공모한다. ‘독후감’은 원하는 도서를 자유롭게 선택하되, 최근 기후위기 대응의 중요성이 커진 만큼 온실가스 배출제로와 관련된 도서를 권장한다. ‘편지글’은 가족과 지인에게 마음을 전하는 내용으로 작성하면 된다.

 

‘독후감’ 원고분량은 200자 원고지 기준 ▲초등부 6매 ▲중·고등부 10매 ▲대학·일반부 12매 내외이다. ‘편지글’은 A4용지 2매 이내로 작성하면 된다.

 

중랑구민이거나 지역 내 학생·직장인이라면 누구나 참여할 수 있다. 본인이 자필로 작성한 1작품을 중랑구민회관 내 새마을중랑구지부(중랑구 면목로 238, 2층)로 방문하거나 우편으로 제출하면 된다.

 

심사를 거쳐 총 30작품을 수상작으로 선정하며, 결과는 10월 4일에 중랑구청 홈페이지에서 확인할 수 있다. 수상작은 12월경 ‘중랑문학’에 수록되며 대통령기 제41회 국민독서경진대회 서울시 예선 출품 자격을 얻는다.

 

류경기 중랑구청장은 “코로나로 여름휴가를 떠나기 어려운 만큼 올해는 집에서 안전하게 북캉스를 즐기며 경진대회에도 참여해보시길 바란다”며, “앞으로도 10분 거리 공공도서관과 스마트도서관을 늘려가는 등 주민들이 어디서나 쉽게 책을 접할 수 있도록 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

 

한편, 구는 주민들이 가까운 곳에서 독서를 할 수 있도록 중화2동 복합청사 내 공공도서관, 면목유수지 문화체육복합센터(도서관) 등 공공도서관 확충에 힘쓰고 있다. 영유아기 아동에게 독서습관을 만들어주는 ‘취학 전 1000권 읽기’ 사업 또한 호응이 높아, 지난 6월 기준 5,258명이 참여해 115명이 목표를 달성했다.
