Gyeonggi-do, Konjiam Pottery Park refurbished as “Luxury Pottery Specialized Theme Park”

-Reporter In-Gyu Ha

(Break News Northeastern Gyeonggi Province) = Gyeonggi-do and the Korea Ceramic Foundation renovated it as a “luxury ceramic special theme park,” by renovating old facilities in Konjiam Ceramic Park (located in Gwangju) and building an eco-friendly playground and outdoor exhibition hall.

Prior to this, the Dowa Foundation had initiated a reorganization project with a budget of 6 billion won from 2019 to solve the aging facilities of the Konjiam Ceramic Park, which was created for the 2001 World Ceramic Expo.

The Konjiam Pottery Park, which was officially reopened in May after reorganization, has a scale of 430,000 square meters and consists of three themes: a hill of laughter, a story yard, and a trail in the forest.

First of all, a 1,000m2 children's playground called “Laughter Hill” was built for family visitors. There is an adventure combination playground made of eco-friendly wood, a slide, and a net playground (tramblin). Large shade curtains, parasols, and outdoor tables for relaxation are also installed to add convenience to the viewing.

'Story Madang' is a space where visitors can chat comfortably in the natural scenery. The accessibility was improved by expanding the existing access road and creating a promenade using a ceramic shape. It has a large tree, a zelkova deck square, and a log cabin designed to give you a sense of nature.

“The Trail in the Forest” is an outdoor exhibition hall where 51 promenades and outdoor sculptures are harmonized with the surrounding landscape. Between the promenades, rest chairs, forest speed library, and pergola (a type of pavilion) were installed so that you can enjoy the work comfortably. There are also streams of thread, flower grass, and Geumgye-guk, which enhance the seasonal atmosphere depending on the surrounding landscape.

In particular, the entire course of Konjiam Pottery Park has been made with a universal design that allows tourist vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and the disabled, to move around the entire park without inconvenience. Visitors using wheelchairs can freely walk around the museum in the parking lot and the promenade in the museum.

In addition, there are various ways to add fun to the viewing, such as'Stamp Travel', where you can see every corner of the park, fill in a stamp on a travel map and receive a souvenir as a gift, and'Add Art to Nature', an outdoor sculpture commentary program that can be seen anywhere with only QR code recognition. A program was also prepared.

Meanwhile, at the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum in Konjiam Pottery Park, you can watch the exhibition “Multi-Hyang and Multi-Color: A Celadon Story in Tea Culture” until June 27th.
