Yangju,'Bongam-ri revenue-generating facility opening ceremony' held
LIfe up Bongam Village

-Reporter In-Gyu Ha
(Yangju = Break News, northeastern part of Gyeonggi) = Yangju City (Mayor Seong-ho Lee) will hold a ceremony for the opening of a profit-generating facility in Bongam-ri, which was created as part of the “life-up Bongam Village” project at 3 pm at the Bongam-ri Welfare Center.

About 50 people, including Vice Mayor Jo Hak-soo and Chung Deok-young, chairman of the Yangju City Council, participated in the opening ceremony, starting with an introduction to the guest, a report on the business progress, a commemorative address, a tape-cutting and commemorative photo, and a facility round.

In particular, considering that the spread of Corona 19 continues, we plan to minimize the number of on-site participants and make every effort to ensure thorough quarantine management and compliance with living quarantine rules.

In December of last year, for the smooth operation of profit-generating facilities, capacity building training was conducted for village residents, and in April, the village corporation'Bongam Nanum Cooperative' was established to start preparing for operation in earnest.

The city invested 1.3 billion won in total project cost (6.2 billion won for dobby and 6.8 billion won for municipal expenses) through dobby assistance projects such as improvement of settlement conditions using vacant houses in the border area and pilot project for building convenience facilities for military personnel, and remodeling two deteriorated buildings located at the entrance to the village. did.

The profit-generating facilities built in Bongam Village were built to revitalize the shrinking local economy and promote the village's continuous profit generation, with two locations: “Bongam World Plaza” and “Cafe Bongam Warehouse”.

Bongam World Plaza is a profit-generating facility that has been remodeled and changed to suit local characteristics by remodeling the old town hall (three floors above ground) with low utilization.

Surrounded by military bases and industrial complexes, Bongam-ri is in an environment disconnected from the outside, so the floating population rapidly declined, and the phenomenon of village cavitation was serious due to continuous outflow of population.

A PC zone with 43 game PCs installed on the 1st floor of Bongam World Plaza was created on the 1st floor of Bongam World Plaza so that soldiers of nearby military units can use them when going out and staying out. The foundation for community activation was established.

In addition, an exclusive accommodation facility (share house) for workers working in nearby industrial complexes was created on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Bongam World Plaza with a size of 333㎡. To provide a pleasant living environment to users, 1 single room and 2nd floor per floor. It has 3 private rooms, a toilet, a shared living room and kitchen, a laundry room, and a boiler room.

In particular, the share house was planned through a survey conducted on local residents and workers in industrial complexes in July 2018, and is a representative that can generate continuous rental income by targeting potential consumers in the village without relying on external visitors. It is an item.

However, according to the trend of the Corona 19 situation, after passing through the trial operation period, the operating hours and targets of use will be expanded within the scope of ensuring the safety of users.

Café Bongam Warehouse has been transformed into a community space that can be used by various classes such as residents, visitors, military servicemen, visitors, and foreign workers through remodeling of the old Nonghyup Warehouse.

The front part of the facility preserves the appearance of the existing warehouse building, such as moss on the wall and cut walls, and the rear is applied with a front folding door to maximize the utilization of space that can appear dark and narrow.

In addition, the exterior landscaping space was decorated with LED lighting to harmonize with the cafe wall, which may be somewhat unusual, to create an attractive night view.

It is expected that all the profits generated from facility operation will be invested in village environment improvement and public service projects, thereby laying the foundation for urban regeneration, such as increasing local income, inflow of population, and revitalizing local commercial areas, and contributing to the establishment of a self-sustaining Jiangsu village.

Meanwhile, Yangju City has been awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award and the Minister of Public Administration and Security Award at the 5th Korea Crime Prevention Awards through the ‘Life up Bongam Village’ project.

Lee Seong-ho, head of Yangju City, said, “This project is very meaningful in that it is a shared fruit of both the city and the village residents to share and strive for revitalization and urban regeneration.” I will do my best to do more.”

Currently, there are a total of 33 members of the Bongam Sharing Cooperative, and plans to continue increasing the number of members of Bongam-ri by encouraging them to join members.
